THE MARSHALL TUCKER BAND THE WHO

I had never devoted an entry to one of my favorite bands, of which more good vibes has always given me, which is undoubtedly THE MARSHALL TUCKER BAND, a of the great Southern Rock bands, but never enjoyed the reputation of others as Allman Brothers or Lynyrd Skynyrd, but in terms of quality had nothing to envy .-

The Marshall Tucker Band was formed in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1971 by singer Doug Gray, guitarist Toy Caldwell, his brother bassist Tommy Caldwell , guitarist George McCorkle, drummer Paul Reedle and flutist and saxophonist Jerry Eubanks, and their music was a delicious combination of Country, blues, rock and even jazz, and as a Southern good band, with periods of extended solos and jams.
The band signed with the seal of excellence in 70 Southern Rock, "Capricorn Records" and released his eponymous debut in 1973 with songs written by Toy Caldwell, among which "Can not you see", "Take the highway" and "Ramblin '.
After this album came "A new life" in 1974, "Where we all belong" in 1975, one of my favorites, with half of the studio recordings and half live, and that includes jewelry as "How can i slow down" or "This old cowboy", in this continued "Searchin 'for a Rainbow" in 1975, with the extraordinary "Fire on the mountain." In 1976 came "Long Hard Ride" and in 1977 was undoubtedly his most successful album, "Carolina Dreams", thanks in part to the success of the single "Heard it on a love song" which peaked at 15 on the list success of the time. After this album was released "Together Forever" in 1978 "Running like the wind" in 1979 and to welcome the new decade, "Tenth" in 1980. However, this disc is tragically remembered as the last tape the original lineup, as the month of its publication bassist Tommy Caldwell died in a tragic car accident, something that was devastating for the band .-

Shortly after the death of his brother, Toy Caldwell left the band to start a solo career and the band split in 1983 .-
However, shortly after Doug Gray and Jerry Eubanks recruited Nashville musicians who gave life to a new stage of the Marshall Tucker Band, with which they have continued to record, turning without stopping, and getting some hits on Country, but without regaining the level and the splendor of their golden years in the 70's.
On February 25, 1993 Toy Caldwell died, and surely that he and his brother will brighten the sky with his wonderful music .-
